Kenakalan Pikir Mas Wigrantoro Roes Setiyadi

Mas Wigrantoro Roes Setiyadi (MasWig) was born in July 1961 in Klampok, Banjarnegara, Central Java, Indonesia. My parent worked as civil servants. Dad worked for Agriculture Labour Training Institute under Ministry of ManPower, while Mom worked for Family Birth Planing Agency. I am a mid of seven children (5 guys and 2 gals). When I was kid at home, I was known as naughty boy, no days without fighting against other kids. Playing footbal ended with fighting, stealing fruits from fruit-park not enjoy withou fighting. That why many of my friends in the viallge called me “fighter”. But that not only the predicate I had. In elementary school, from 1st to 6th grades I always win the best medal. This predicate continued when I was in secondary school from 1st to 3rd grade.

My life changed when graduated from sec-school and I went to Vocational scholl in capital province city. I had to live on my own, I mean far from parent and bros-sisters, control myself, washed clothes my self, and had to be independen. Schooling in voc-school started with amused and lots of interesting, but days forward had to dealing with boring and almost lost of control. to prevent from failure of scholling I involved in variuos activities. Finaly, I garduated from tehcnical high scholl after 4.5 years. This is a super special or extraordinary school. I am proud of becoming alumni of STM Pembangunan Semarang.

Not long after graduation day, I was accepted to be an employee of Computer Company in Jakarta. August 9th, 1981 was my first working day. I had to go thorugh a training before inaugurated as a computer technician. Jambi in Sumatra was my first town to work. in fact I had to station in Jambi, but Wahadi – my boss – gave me chance to station in Palembang Technical Representative Office. Living in Palembang gave me opportunity to study further. In between and after working hours, I went study in Pendidikan Ahli Teknik (PAT) in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Sriwijaya University. I did not finish my study in this Univ, since my destiny brought me back to Jakarta. Moved from Italian Computer company and joined an american oil and gas company.

The first three months in the Oil and Gas company, I had to attend technical english. Bill Balinger and Don Wills were two english instructors, they were very good to all of us. During training, I met Nanette Droste, she was an intructor like Bill and Don, but she is special, particularly for me. I don’t know for sure what was in her mind about me, but I thought, I missed the opportunitiy that she opened to me. Next six months, as trainee, I went through various technical skills classes, including fire and safety training in Sungaigerong.
